'The Backyard'
Year: 1995

Medium: Watercolor, Pen & Ink
Like 'Zamora Vendors', this pen & ink work employs shades of color
but added with a third visual element of sedimental wash. This piece
is an intimate rendition of the artist's parent's home in Mindanao
and whose backyard is now ravaged by time. The familiar setting
used to be a playground, garden and, with parents passing away,
the scene appears in desolate abandon. What remains are roaming
ducks, untended plants and a worn out lavatory being backdropped
with a firewall.
