'Nocturnal Vendor (512)'

Year: 1990
Size: 24 x 34
Medium: Oil, Collage on canvas

This mother & child selling food for everyone's late night supper is a common sight in the metropolis' waysides. Far from idealizing it, the painting presents them as a single unit, operating its business independently with their makeshift barbecue stand. To the artist, using the indigenous materials for collage does not only rest on the descriptive or tactile elements of the picture, but delivering the material as a way of forging the rawness of character itself.
