'Mangyan Woman'

Year: 1989
Size: 22 x 30
Medium: Pen & Ink

This is one of the long series of drawing depicting Philippine's tribal minorities. The subject is a young Mangyan matron, two months pregnant, whose tribe inhabits the hilly sitio in Mindoro Occidental. Often forgotten people in the pace of progress, the artist revives them in this realistic rendition using sepia ink to blend on a toned paper.
