This piece is a mixed-media collagework using woodstrips, blanketcloths, native raffias, paper, cottonstrings, etc. Like carollers from the hinterlands, these shaggy musicians are simply folk revelers who travel and play for a penny. And they sound off like unrehearsed local brass band. The artist once invited them to perform at his doorstep, not for the music, but to observe their peculiar bearing and disposition. Unlike other performers they play unabashedly outdoor in a broad daylight, not quite the type of company for Picasso's mysterious monk to play around.
