How soon will my hosting account be set up and ready to use?
After your payment has been cleared, your account will be setup within 6 hours or less in most cases. You will receive an email with your account information, IP address, user name and password. You can then start uploading your site.

Is my access 24 hours a day?
Yes. You will have access to your account 24 hours a day.

Can cebu-online.com register domain names for me?
Yes. cebu-online.com is an affilated reseller of eNom, Inc. for world domains and dotPh, Inc. for Philippine domains. You will find eNom among the ICANN accredited registrars while dotPh is the authorized Philippine country domain registrar. We charge $19.95 / domain per year for .com, .net, .org and .info domains and $32 / domain per year for .ph and .com.ph domains. Go to our domain registration page for more info.

Does cebu-online.com allow adult, warez or other illicit sites or content?

What are your Network Connections?
Our network consists of redundant DS-3 network connections to provide a high-availability platform for all business needs.

What is your server environment?
Our servers are Intel Pentium IIIs with high-speed SCSI or IDE drives. Our UNIX systems are installed with Red Hat Linux running Apache Web Server and our Windows systems are installed with Windows 2000 running IIS. This is a fairly typical web server setup.

Where are your servers located?
We have been on the web hosting business since 1995 and have become experts in locating Network Operation Centers in the U.S. that give speed, stability and competitive pricing. Presently, we have dedicated servers in Scranton, PA. NOC and in Boca Raton, FL.. These servers are monitored 24x7x365, in a data center environment that provides security, backup power, and direct access to the Internet backbones.

Where is cebu-online.com located?
Our offices are located in Mandaue City in the island of Cebu, Philippines.

Can I get unlimited bandwidth?
No. We do not offer packages with unlimited bandwidth primarily because there is no such thing. Any one that promises that is not telling the truth. Somewhere in their terms and conditions are probably some words referring to "excessive use of resources", and in effect these place some arbitrary limit on your bandwidth. We set limits to both protect you and to provide you with a reliable service.

What is Virtual Hosting?

Virtual Hosting is where multiple web sites (www.anyname.com) are served off the same physical server. This saves each customer from purchasing their own expensive server, performing the setup and providing the appropriate environment. This is the most common method of hosting sites of small to medium size with light to moderate traffic.

Do you have Front-Page extensions?

Front Page extensions can be installed for your account. They are not installed automatically during the initial setup. Send us a support request and they will be installed within 24 hours.

What is Bandwidth?

Bandwidth is the amount of data moved between your site and the browsers of the customer's accessing your site. It is typically measured in Gigabits.

I want to change my account plan. How do I upgrade / downgrade my account?

To upgrade or downgrade your account, go to our customer support page and open a support ticket. Just specify what plan you want to change from or other services you'd like changed and submit your request.

What domain names do you support?

We support all domains, including foreign domains.

Can we add services as we grow and need them?

You may grow at whatever pace you like. All options can be added or removed at any time.

What is SSH?

SSH is similar to telnet, but it's more secure. It uses high level encryption and compression to make sure nobody can takeover or eavesdrop on your telnet session.

Moving Your Site to cebu-online.com

How do I move my current site to cebu-online.com?
Every situation is different, but generally, there are 4 basic steps in moving your site from your current hosting company to cebu-online.com.

1. Select and order your hosting package.
   
   
2. Modify the DNS record of your domain name from your registrar.

   In 24 to 48 hours, your changes should start to take effect. It may take several days for all DNS servers to be updated.
   
   
3. Move the contents of your current site to your new site in our server. Setup email accounts, forwarders, autoresponders, ...
   
   
4. Test, Test, Test, and then Test somemore.

Why doesn't cebu-online.com offer phone support?

We prefer support requests to come through our trouble ticket reporting system or email for a variety of reasons. First, it provides an audit trail of communication so that all the facts can be passed on to whomever may be working your problem.
Second, it allow us to focus on fixing problems instead of answering the phone.
Third, we soon will be implementing a knowledge base/help desk system that allows you to monitor your problem or service issue through its resolution.
