WELCOME! The Southwestern University Museum houses the rare collection
of Dr. Lydia Aznar-Alfonso. Spanning
30 years, this remarkable collection was kept in her basement making sure
that Cebu could have a legacy of a rich cultural heritage of iron-age
potteries excavated in Cebu and its neighboring islands, to rare celadons
and a magnificent blue and white collection, in particular a Yuan bowl,
one of the three early blue and white extra large bowl found in the Philippines.
Likewise, it houses a rich Hispanic Cultural and Religious artifacts
from furnitures, to baroque ivory Santos, excavated gold jewelries, trade
beads, death mask, and gold peggings.
| This Collection holds paintings from the most primitive religious art of the 18th century to the visual arts, sculptures, and paintings of the Cebuano artists for the past 50 years. The Museum also houses the physical exhibit of Cebu Artists, Inc., the first art association in the Philippines to put up an online art gallery on the Internet. |

Its Filipiniana Library and Research Center holds a collection of vintage books, ethnographic collection, rare postcards and other resources. The Museum is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. It is fully air-conditioned, services of docents provide especially guided tours and a special lecture on specific cultural topics are available.
